Shane Simmons is one of the top young players in the Mid-Atlantic. The defensive end from Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha has eight offers so far and his is in touch with many other schools.
"I've been talking to N.C. State and Virginia Tech," said the 6-foot-3, 204-pound Simmons. "I might go down to N.C. State for an unofficial visit. I know N.C. State is rebuilding their program and they want me to be a part of it. I've only talked to them twice.

"I might go down to Virginia Tech," he said. "They are another school that is rebuilding their program. I talked to their recruiter and he is pretty cool."
The Wolfpack and Hokies have yet to offer Simmons but they sound like they are getting close.
"I think they'll be the next two to offer me," Simmons said. "So far recruiting has been a little slow but college games are still going on but once they end more offers might come in."
Simmons is will be taking in a loot of the bowl games this season.
"I'll be watching the Florida State, Maryland and Rutgers games," he said. "I'm keeping all my options open."
Schools from across the country are reaching out to Simmons.
"I have a whole bunch of mail from different schools," said Simmons. "I think the most mail has come from UCLA and Notre Dame."
Simmons has offers from Cincinnati, Florida State, Maryland, North Carolina, Rutgers, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Virginia.
