2016 3-star RB recaps LSU visit

After transferring from a small private school to one of the biggest programs in the state of Georgia, there's been a bit of an adjustment period for 2016 three-star Suwanee (Ga.) Peachtree Ridge running back Malik Staples. The 5-foot-11, 201-pound back is playing both ways for one of the state's top teams.
"It's been hard because I'm playing against better competition and playing pretty much every play," said Staples, who has offers from Boston College and Georgia Tech. "But I'm getting better every day."

Staples was recently in Baton Rouge for LSU's game against Mississippi State and even though the Tigers didn't come out on top, he said he was impressed with the visit.
"It was crazy," he said. "The atmosphere was super live. I really did love every bit of it."
The Tigers have been working on several prospects at Peachtree Ridge, including 2016 defensive back Chad Clay and 2017 athlete DeAngelo Gibbs. Staples went with his teammates and said the trio got to spend some time with the program's head man.
"We got a chance to meet Coach Miles and that was great," Staples said. "He's a great guy, so real and so genuine."
The Tigers have yet to offer Staples, but he said he continues to receive interest from the program.
"They have been sending me a bunch of mail almost every day," he said. "They told me that I'm high on their list and I'm a guy they're watching."
In addition to the Tigers, Staples said he's also been hearing from Tennessee, Auburn, N.C. State, Wake Forest, Iowa and Alabama, with visits to several of the schools in the works for later in the year.
On the season, Staples has 186 rushing yards (6.4 yards per carry) and three touchdowns on offense, with six tackles and four pass deflections on defense.
