Union City (N.J.) has had a fast start to the 2013 season. The Soaring Eagles have won their first two games handily and Rivals250 Watch List member Steven Gonzalez is sure all of his teammates are focused on their next opponent.
"We blew out North Bergen last weekend," said the 6-foot-4, 321-pound Gonzalez. "We're practicing hard for the game against Bayonne this weekend."
Gonzalez is one of the most sought after junior offensive linemen in the region and there."
"Since September 1 the schools that I'm in touch with the most are Oregon, Ohio State, Nebraska, Alabama, Florida State, Mississippi State, Miami and Michigan State," he said. "I talked to Oregon and Ohio State coaches on the phone. I talked most of the coaches through Facebook and social media."
Gonzalez is seeing a Big Ten game in person next month.
"I was supposed to go to Rutgers recently but I wasn't able to make it," Gonzalez said. "As of now my visit to Penn State for the Michigan game on October 12 is a green light and that's it right now."
Two teams could be close to offering Gonzalez.
"The latest offer was Syracuse which came back in August," he said. "I think Oregon and Miami are close to offering."
Gonzalez's teammate, wide receiver Daiquan Kelly, is also a highly coveted prospect in the 2015 class.
