2015 OL recaps Miami trip

The 2015 class of offensive linemen in New Jersey is shaping up to be a good one and one of those headliners will be Steven Gonzalez. The offensive tackle out of Union City (N.J.) already has seven offers from schools like Virginia, Rutgers, South Carolina, Louisville and others. Last weekend Gonzalez made the trip south to visit one of his favorite schools to see if he could get an offer.
"Miami was great,' said the 6-foot-4, 321-pound Gonzalez. "Visiting the campus and talking with the coaches was an amazing experience. They haven't offered yet though.

"I got down there on Thursday June 20," he said. "We stayed at my cousin's house. On the visit they showed me the facilities, the weight room, talked about academics. I actually got to meet Reggie Wayne and Andrew Luck, which was pretty cool.
"All the coaches were great and just seeing everything that the campus has to offer was amazing," said Gonzalez. "The coaches kept saying that it was a small campus but I thought it was big compared to Rutgers. It was beautiful. You can't get any better than Miami."
Is Miami still being considered since the Hurricanes did not offer him?
"They are still high on my list even though they haven't offered yet," he said. "I really like the school and I'm going to keep waiting it out."
Gonzalez does not have any other visits scheduled at this time.
"I was thinking about visiting Virginia and Virginia Tech next but I'm still not sure about that," Gonzalez said. "As of now I have no other visits planned."
Gonzalez admitted that one school has already gotten pretty close with him.
"The coaches that I've been in touch with the most are from Rutgers because they are close to home and can come see me when ever they want," he said. "They are all pretty close though."
Gonzalez was a participant in the Newark RCS.
