Scouting Report: Hyatt has an attribute that can sometimes be overlooked when talking about offensive linemen -- he's very patient. He's not afraid to let a quicker player throw himself off balance or overthink his first move, falling right where Hyatt wants him. He has tremendous length, which allows him to get his hands on defenders and get up into them and then drive them back. Despite his height and age, he displays great pad level. He's never too high in his stance, allowing him to get tremendous leverage against players of all sizes. The foundation of Hyatt's game is his strong fundamental skill set, something he's only likely to build as his career moves along.
Analyst's Take: "Hyatt fits the bill of a gentle giant off the field, but once he steps between the lines he has the nastiness it takes to be a dominant tackle at the next level and beyond. What makes him even more intriguing going forward is the fact that he's still growing into his body. He's already 6-foot-5 but still weighs less than 270 and hardly carries any bad weight. As he continues to add weight and muscle to his frame, to go with his already impressive technical still set, he'll just become a more dominant player at the tackle position." -- Woody Wommack, Southeast recruiting analyst, Rivals.com
Why He's a Five-Star: "When looking at five-star offensive tackles, you look for many things but it usually starts with size and agility. But with Hyatt, it starts with technique and footwork. He's an athletic kid with basketball feet, but he's not very big. However, he has a great frame to fill out, he's athletic as heck and his technique is very advanced for a young player. He is especially advanced in pass protection, and he could put on a clinic on how to get out of your stance quickly and under control and use your feet and arms to steer opponents where you want them. He also has terrific mental makeup, which helps going against older and more powerful prospects; he doesn't get intimidated at all." -- Mike Farrell, national recruiting analyst, Rivals.com
His Coach Says: "He has that kind of size and that kind of athleticism to go with that kind of physical and mental toughness that makes him the complete package. He has the athletic skill level of a basketball kid and the great size. But he has the physical and mental toughness of a football player. That combination is kind of unique. He is a relentless worker. Every day is a 'win the day' attitude for him. Every snap, he has an attitude that this could be the play that determines the game. He brings that approach to the game. He just works, never complains, and we never hear two words out of him about it. He gets banged up and dinged up and never whines. You would never know it if he was hurt. He just has that kind of effort and attitude that will take you a long way, but to have that kind of size and athleticism to go with it, that has just allowed him to keep getting better." -- Bob Sphire, head football coach, North Gwinnett HS
Odds And Ends: Hyatt burst onto the scene after a dominating performance against Robert Nkemdiche, the top player in the 2013 class, during his sophomore season in 2012. ... He excelled at the Atlanta stop of the Rivals Camp Series presented by Under Armour and earned an invitation to the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by Under Armour, one of a select group of 2015 prospects to earn an invitation. ... His uncle, Dan Benish, played defensive tackle for the 1981 national championship team at Clemson before a stint in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons and Washington Redskins, so the Tigers are thought to be a leader here.
