2015 DE talks Jackets, UVA

Class of 2015 McDonough (Ga.) Eagle's Landing Christian defensive end Nick Dawson has added several offers this spring, but he's hoping a good showing in front of coaches can help his list grow even more.
Dawson recently added offers from Virginia and UAB, but said the school closest to this Atlanta-area home continues to show a lot of interest.

"The Georgia Tech coaches came to see me this week and we've been talking a lot," Dawson said. "They're talking about how I would fit into their defense if I came there. Basically they're telling me they want to play me like Jabari Hunt-Days, in the rush linebacker position. I've been playing a mix of outside linebacker and defensive end and all of my offers are for a kind of hybrid role."
In addition to the proximity to home, Dawson said there are plenty of thing about Georgia Tech he finds appealing way from the football field.
"I think the program is very good but not just the athletic part of it," he said. "I like everything that they have set up academically. I plan on majoring in communications and it's something that I really like and I could do that there. Right now I'm just waiting on an offer from them and I feel like it's really close."
Dawson has also seen Ole Miss and Tennessee come by his school during the spring evaluation period. However, of the schools on his list that have offered, Virginia is making the strongest pitch.
"Virginia has been recruiting me hard," Dawson said. "They're talking to me about their defense and they said they should be down to see me soon. Their defense is everything that I'm looking for and I always know that it's a good school academically. I train with some guys who are from there and they said they loved it. I just need to get up there and see it for myself."
Dawson is hoping that he'll do well enough during the spring to add offers and that he won't have to camp this summer. Either way, he's planning to take some visits before the fall.
"Most of them are saying that the offer should come if I do well in spring," he said. "So I'm not sure about camps, I will probably be taking visits. I'm really waiting on everything to come first."
