2014 standout starring in Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage running back Sony Michel, an early favorite for top prospect in the Sunshine State's 2014 class, was amongst the participants during Thursday's morning session at the Jimbo Fisher Football Camp at Florida State.
"I got to town two days ago," Michel said. "Today was my first day doing the camp. I had a great time. I enjoyed working with the coaches and the competition. It is different from any other camp I've ever been to because we are in helmets. It is great experience and helping me get ready to get back into action this season."

The 5-foot-11, 196-pound back has been shown a lot of one-on-one attention from the Seminoles' staff since arriving into town.
"I talked to Coach (Jimbo) Fisher yesterday in his office," Michel said. "I sat down and talked with him and had a great conversation. Coach Fisher is just a great person."
In addition to Fisher, Michel's primary recruiter and prospective position coach - Eddie Gran - has also spoken at length with him.
"I also sat down with Eddie Gran and we went over some things. He was just telling me about all of the things that he would teach me if I was to come here. He said he was going to push me, not baby me, if I came here."
Michel had an opportunity to experience hands-on coaching from Gran during this morning's workout.
"I loved working with him," Michel said. "He just really gets after you and works hard to teach you new things. He is always pushing you to be great."
This camp visit marks Michel's second trip to Florida State this year. The Seminoles are amongst the schools making an early impression.
"Florida State is high because it is in Florida, but my options are open," Michel said. "I am open to every school. I am hoping to hear from every school so I can make a decision later on out of everybody."
"I've heard a lot from Miami, Florida, and Florida State," Michel added. "Alabama is also talking to me a lot and I am starting to build a relationship with Notre Dame."
In addition to visiting Florida State, Michel has also taken trips to Florida and Miami this summer.
