2014 DT closing in on more offers

2014 defensive tackle Justin Herron of Potomac (Md.) Bullis School has been attracting a great deal of early attention and has picked up one early offer. A number of top programs across the country will be keeping a close eye on the athletic defensive lineman this fall.
"Recruiting is going real well," said Herron, who is 6-foot-4 and 277-pounds. "I have looks from Penn State, Oregon, Maryland, Villanova and Boston College."

Herron has an early offer from Villanova and attended summer camps at Boston College, Duke and the Wildcats.
"All of the camps stood out to me," he said. "I learned something from every camp for defense. I learned what steps you take on certain plays. how many for the ideal good stance for a defensive lineman and also the techniques of kick stepping on the offensive side. I also learned about the target points for where you want to strike the defensive lineman."
The Maryland lineman will try to attend as many college games as possible this fall, but has yet to schedule anything officially.
With Penn State being in the picture early and with a possible visit in line this fall, Herron gave his thoughts on all of the recent occurrences in Happy Valley.
"It's a tragedy, but all in all it's still a great school and the football program will still do well," said Herron. "I'm still interested in Penn State."
Overall, Herron is beginning to figure out what he will be looking for in his future school.
"I like schools that can give me the right path and a great start in life after football," he said. "I also look for how good their law school is."
As his junior season approaches, Herron understands that a dominating performance will quickly enhance his recruiting process.
"I'm working hard in the weight room and on the track," said Herron. "I'm going 100% every time, so everything is looking real well. I'll be playing defensive tackle and for offense either right guard or left tackle."
