To say Andrew Trumbetti has taken a liking to Notre Dame is a bit of an understatement. The defensive end from Demarest (N.J.) has seven offers from schools like Virginia, Rutgers and Maryland but the Fighting Irish are clearly the team to beat.
"I like all the schools that have offered me but Notre Dame is my favorite because I grew up a Notre Dame fan," said Trumbetti. "I'm definitely happy with their success this year. The Oklahoma game was awesome. Most people didn't believe that Notre Dame was good enough. It's great to see them proving to everyone that they're that good. All the coaches send me a lot of mail and Coach (Brian) Kelly and I talk on Facebook a lot. Hopefully I can get to a game and visit up there."
There are two other schools near the top of Trumbetti's list.
"I really like the coaching staffs at Rutgers and Maryland.," said the 6-foot-5, 249-pound Trumbetti. "I want to have a chance to visit the schools some time in the near future."
Trumbetti is in contact with many BCS level schools but which powerhouse will offer him next?
"I'm in contact with Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Michigan State, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Washington, Missouri and USC. I'm not sure which school will be the next to offer but it seems like there are a lot of schools that are interested in me."
Trumbetti has 11 sacks this year but, unfortunately, Demarest is not going to make the playoffs.
