2014 corner favors Seminoles

West Palm Beach (Fla.) Dwyer is home to an intriguing defensive back recruit and if he has his way he will be staying close to home for college.
Shawn Boone is claiming five offers: Florida State, USF, Bowling Green, Marshall and Northern Illinois. Over the summer he camped at Florida, Florida State and Miami so the coaches from each of those schools have seen him in live action.

Those camps were important because it gave the coaches a chance to evaluate him at cornerback. Though Boone is just 5-foot-10 and 170-pounds he plays outside linebacker for Dwyer. This week he said he's being recruited as a safety, so schools have wanted to see how his skills translate to the secondary.
On the plus side, playing linebacker at that size means Boone is much more physical than you might have assumed. And at safety that will certainly help when he's asked to come down into the box.
"Over the past couple of weeks I've started to get interest from Georgia, Florida, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Alabama, West Virginia, Boston College and Miami," Boone added.
"Right now Florida State's at the top of the list."
With Boone claiming an early offer from the Noles, his top choice, it's a recruitment to watch even at this early juncture.
Staying close to home is something that would appeal to him.
"It just depends," he said. "I would like to stay close to home but it depends on what the best fit for me is."
