Washington (D.C.) Dunbar 2013 offensive tackle Derwin Gray took a pair of unofficial visits this past weekend. The 6-foot-5, 255-pounder headed to the state of North Carolina.
"I visited North Carolina and NC State," he said. "It was great, it was a different area and it was my first time visiting North Carolina and NC State. I met all the players and saw the graduation rates, it was great."
Gray discussed the North Carolina trip first.
"I thought it was great, the history of the players that have come out of D.C.," he said. "They recruit a lot of D.C. players and I thought the weight room facilities were great and they have a lot of different sports, it's very organized."
Meanwhile, what about NC State?
"It was great, it was totally different from North Carolina," he said. "They both like to compete against each other. They are improving their facilities like North Carolina does. While North Carolina is big and louder, it's chilled and laid back at NC State, it was totally different."
Gray pulled an offer from North Carolina, but NC State has yet to offer.
A new offer joined the mix earlier this week for Gray in West Virginia.
"I think that offer is great, I'm hoping to go there in the future. They've told me a lot about their facilities and they fit my type of style."
With recruiting quickly rising, does Gray like anybody?
"My dream school has always been Miami, the U," he said. "It is just cause of that Miami type of swag. They got NFL players and always like to win, they've got a little bit of everything and a lot of great players. I want to be part of their tradition."
