2013 CB Edwards gaining interest

College interest is picking up for 2013 cornerback Evrett Edwards. The Woodbridge (Va.) Woodbridge Senior prospect is getting looks from schools across the East Coast early in the process.
"I'm getting interest from Georgia Tech, Boston College, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Temple, Stanford, Old Dominion, Florida, Hampton, Princeton, Virginia Tech and North Carolina," he said. "They all are telling me their interest and how they can't wait until after Signing Day so they can talk to me more."

Though he had invites to schools, Edwards wasn't able to make any trips this fall.
Meanwhile, he maintains he has no true favorites, but named a few schools that stand out early.
"I'm very open, but if I had a top ten or so I'd say it's Stanford, Vanderbilt, Tech, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Notre Dame, California, Baylor, TCU and FIU," he said. "Most of those schools I've been to with my parents on road trips. I just liked the atmospheres of them even during the summer as well as the facilities and locations."
What else is Edwards looking for in a college?
"I'm not looking for a school for four years, but 40-years," he said. "I want to come out and make connections when I go into the business world. I want the name of the school to say something if football doesn't work for me. I want career options."
A strong 3.8 GPA student, Edwards is looking at going into business.
However, location isn't a big factor for him.
"I'm from Arlington, Texas," he said. "I moved here in 2002 and most of my family is from Louisiana, Florida and Texas. I lived a year in Spain though to study abroad, so location doesn't matter."
Edwards broke out this season as a junior posting 37 tackles, seven interceptions and five pass breakups along with 17 receptions for 270-yards and two scores on offense.
He discussed his game further.
"I think my understanding of the game is big for me right now. I study the game and watch film a lot trying to fix my mistakes," he stated. "I'm still working to be the best and I want to study film even more to help my team."
Though he is getting some looks as a soccer recruit, Edwards isn't really considering that as an option at the next level.
