2013 ATH Shorts has ties to Rutgers

Athlete Dakiel Shorts is receiving quite a bit of interest to date. Who's taking a look at the 6-foot-1, 195-pound junior out of Bear (Dela.) Red Lion Christian Academy?
"I haven't gotten an offer yet, but I've gotten a lot of mail," Shorts said. "Rutgers, Connecticut, Penn State, Texas A&M, Temple and Auburn have shown interest.

"Last summer I visited Temple, Rutgers and Connecticut. I'm looking forward to taking more visits after the season."
Shorts claims no favorites, but does have a connection to one school interested.
"My cousin Tiquan Underwood played at Rutgers as a wide receiver," he said. "I'm very close with him and he's telling me to keep my options open, but he's giving some word to their staff about me."
As interest grows, Shorts is looking for some things in a college.
"I just want a great school that is going to get me better not only in football, but in life," he said. "I want somewhere that is going to help me as a person and as a football player.
"I actually live in New Jersey, but play football in Delaware. However, location is not a big deal to me."
Having started with Red Lion since his freshman year, Shorts has proven to be a versatile player.
"I play mostly wide receiver and safety," he said. "I'm a physical receiver that can go and get the ball at its highest point.
"I'm still working on getting faster and more explosive."
