2012 Carolina RB pulls first offer

Raleigh (N.C.) Broughton running back Chris Mangus landed his first scholarship on Tuesday. The 5-foot-11, 170-pounder pulled the offer from one of the in-state schools.
"East Carolina offered, it's my first offer," he said. "I felt pretty good when they offered me, I'm excited for my first offer.

"I know a little bit, but not too much about East Carolina. I know they're a pretty good school and they are in Conference USA of course. I know a bit about the coaching staff too."
Mangus is getting plenty of other interest from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, Virginia, North Carolina, East Carolina, NC State, Duke, Maryland and Vanderbilt.
This weekend, the junior tailback plans to head to Georgia for their junior day.
"I don't really have any favorites, but I like the SEC," he said. "I like the competition in the SEC, the competition is better."
Mangus posted 1,312-yards rushing, 13 touchdowns on the ground along with 300-yards receiving and two touchdown receptions. The year earned him conference offensive player of the year honors.
"I improved a lot this past year," he said. "I know I was faster and my vision was better. I got quicker with the way I played. I was able to catch more out of the backfield and they were able to spring me out. I was more versatile."
