2011 LB Thomas adds three offers

Detroit Renaissance linebacker Lawrence Thomas' junior season started off with a wild, seven-overtime game this past weekend which the Phoenix ultimately lost by a final of 34-28. Thomas got better news this week when the fax machine at his school started rolling off official scholarship offers.
"The ones he got via fax are Michigan State, Colorado and Alabama," reported Renaissance coach Antoine Edwards. "A coach from UCLA said theirs was on the way. The Michigan coaches, they said they're trying to get it sent out. I had a missed call from Coach [Ron] Vanderlinden at Penn State and Ohio State wants to him to come to the USC game and they'll probably do something there."

Thomas is considered a strong contender for the top spot in the state of Michigan's ranking for the class of 2011 because he combines a 6-4, 232-pound frame with 4.62 speed in the 40-yard dash. He received several verbal offers over the summer and the attention continues to increase for the Detroit native.
"There is a lot of positive stuff going on with Lawrence," Coach Edwards said. "He's getting recognized pretty decently and he had a pretty good first game. He could have done a lot better, but he still ended up with 13 tackles, six tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks."
Renaissance will look to get their first win of the season this Friday when they host Detroit Mumford. The following day, Thomas will make his first game day recruiting visit of the fall.
"I know we are supposed to go to Michigan State this Saturday," Coach Edwards reported. "Then, we are supposed to go to Michigan-Notre Dame [Sept. 12]. That's the only [visits] we've got scheduled."
