2011 DB Countess claims offers

Owings Mills (Md.) Good Counsel cornerback Blake Countess claims two scholarships. The 5-foot-10, 171-pounder has pulled offers from the ACC and Big Ten.
"I have offers from Maryland and Wisconsin," he said. "It's a big deal just to be getting the offers. I'm really excited.

"I've been to Maryland already for an unofficial visit and they really made me feel at home. Wisconsin offered me just off of my tape. With the offers, now I know I have to play to that level."
Countess discussed the Terrapins more since he's visited them.
"The game there was real nice," he said. "The coaches showed me a lot of love and I got to go down on the field. I talked to the coaches and they are real nice."
Numerous other schools including LSU, Oregon, Alabama, North Carolina, Duke, Virginia and Michigan are also showing interest.
Does the Maryland prospect like anybody?
"I'm a Florida fan," he said. "They are national champions and Joe Haden plays there. I train with his father. I also just like the way they play, they play to win."
While Florida may be a long shot, Countess discussed a few things he's looking for in his future destination.
"I want to get my education and I want to play early. I don't want to be too far from home either. I'd like to stay on the East Coast."
A versatile prospect that also returns kicks, Countess has impressed this season.
"We're doing pretty well," he said. "I have over 15 pass deflections and some touchdown saving tackles. I'm averaging around 25-yards a kick.
"I'm just playing aggressive. I try to play nasty out there."
Sports is Countess' blood as his father ran track at North Carolina A&T.
