Most rising junior offensive line prospects could only hope to have a build similar to that of Marquis Wallace. The 6-foot-3, 298-pound prospect from Richmond (Va.) Varina is drawing plenty of interest and has a busy summer ahead.
Wallace plans on visiting several big-name programs in the coming weeks and if he performs well at the camps he could come away with verbal offers.
"I was supposed to go to Boston College but I didn't have transportation," Wallace said in a recent interview. "I might get up to Notre Dame on June 30 and Virginia Tech on July 12. I got invited to go down to Georgia on July 18, Florida State on July 19, and I think on Thursday I'm going to Virginia."
Right now Wallace and his Varina teammates are busy preparing for the fall. They work out on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and they have some 7-on-7 tournaments scheduled for the skill position players. Wallace is focused on getting bigger, faster and stronger than he already is.
He said he has no favorites at this stage in the recruiting process, but a few schools do look good to him.
"As of right now I don't have any favorites," he explained. "I visited Tennessee and they're high up on my list. Virginia Tech, Virginia and Maryland are high on my list."
He said a couple of schools have hinted that they might be close to offering.
"A couple of schools have given hints," he continued. "My coach was on the phone with Coach Siravo from Boston College. He asked him, 'Is is possibly Marquis Wallace could get an offer?' and he said yes.
"UCLA has been on my trail too. I just got off the phone with them not long ago and they said they would be needing some offensive linemen. They might need me to send my transcript soon."
