Gerald Christian is a two-way standout from Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) Dwyer High School. Christian, 6-3 and 220 pounds, stars at linebacker and tight end. So far this season they are 1-0, beating Royal Palm 13-7 last weekend. In that game Christian has nine tackles and two sacks.
"Most teams like as me as a tight end and some as a linebacker. I just like playing football.
"As a tight end I can catch and run after the catch. I am a good blocker but I need to improve that part of my game. I am good but I need to get better.
"I play inside linebacker. I move to the ball and pursue to the ball. I guess I have good instincts for the position."
According to Christian he has written scholarship offers from Wisconsin, West Virginia, Florida International, Boston College, Rutgers, and Georgia while South Carolina and Florida have offered him verbally.
"Wisconsin was the first to offer. If there was one team that stood out I would say Florida but I really haven't settled my mind on anyone with recruiting. Right now I have no favorites but I would say like the all the schools that have offered me."
This past summer Christian camped at Florida, Miami and South Florida. Last weekend he was in Gainesville for the Miami/Florida game.
"I thought it was a good game and thought Miami was going to stick around but Florida pulled away."
This week Dwyer takes on Palm Beach Gardens.
