2010 LB secures first offer

Jake Holland is a 2010 linebacker prospect from Pelham (Ala.) High School. Holland, 6-1 and 215 pounds, received his first scholarship offer this week.

"UAB offered me earlier this week," Holland said. "I really didn't know it was coming so I was surprised. I really like the coaches and feel like I know them pretty well. They seem like very nice guys. It's a good program and I like the facilities. I could see myself fitting in there pretty well. I feel like I can go there and be a good player for them.

"I went to their game tonight (Thursday) against Memphis and left at halftime. I really like UAB and the other schools that have been on me."

Holland recently took an unofficial to Florida State. He will head to Nashville this weekend to check out Vanderbilt.

"I am going to the Auburn/Vanderbilt game this weekend. I really like them (Vandy) and some others. Although I will say that I haven't really talked much with Vandy yet.

"It seems like more schools are inviting me to games. Alabama and Southern Miss sent me some letters this week."

Holland has 64 tackles in five games this season. Pelham is 3-2 on the season.
