2009 OL already attracts attention

Class of 2009 offensive lineman Mark Clampitt (6-3, 255, 5.0) from Torrance (Calif.) West is someone to keep your eye on. Though Clampitt is only a junior, there are several D-I schools that have him on their radar and have invited him to participate in their summer football camps.
Boise State, Cal, UCLA, and USC have already invited Clampitt to their football camps next year. Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Washington and Utah have also shown some early recruiting interest in Clampitt.

Clampitt attended a UCLA game earlier in the year as an invited recruit and was taken inside the locker room.
Clampitt, who projects as a guard, has started on the varsity squad since his sophomore season when he helped his team to a 12-1-1 record that made it all the way to the championship game before losing 28-21.
That sophomore team averaged 32.8 points a game. As a junior, Clampitt helped his team the playoffs once again. Even though his team had some injuries they still managed to finish the season 7-3-1 while averaging almost 26 points a game.
Clampitt and his West teammates saw their season end last week in the first round of the playoffs 17-14 against Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany.
A goal oriented young man, Clampitt is already thinking about his senior season and will attend some camps this offseason to work on becoming even a better player.
In the weight room, Clampitt currently has the 300-pound bench and squats 400.
What is Clampitt looking for in a college?
"I want to play for a winning program that is on solid ground," Clampitt said. "I didn't have any favorite schools growing up so I am pretty open to everybody.
"I'm originally from the Southern California area," Clampitt said. "I would like to play close to home.
