2009 NY athlete waiting for interest

It's so early in the 2009 recruiting season that it's difficult to say a prospect is flying in under the radar. That seems to be the case so far for athlete Ziad Elghandour, however.
The 5-foot-10, 185-pound prospect from Harlem (N.Y.) Wadleigh played linebacker in the fall and that's the position he was used at while at the U.S. Army All-American Combine earlier this year.

He knows he'll probably have to make the transition to safety at the college level.
"I've played linebacker in high school but if I'm too small then I'll move to safety in college," Elghandour said. "I'm able to read plays well and shed blocks.
"I'm just trying to put on weight for next year."
Elghandour said he has not heard from any schools yet, but it's still early. Most coaches will probably be monitoring his progress in the weight room.
"Basically, I'll listen to any school that offers me," he said. "I'll look at the size of the school and the kind of education it offers. Of course I'll look at playing time. I'll just be looking at everything in general."
Elghadour said he would try to attend camps and Junior Days later this year, and he plans to attend the NIKE Combine in Pittsburgh.
