2009 NC corner has two favorites

Cornerback Perry James proved his worth as a cornerback and a special teams star last season at Mocksville (N.C.) Davie County and he has the ability to take those skills to the next level. Two schools are sticking out to James these days.
James was explosive as a return man on kickoffs and punts last season and many college coaches believe he has the potential to become a solid corner at the next level as well.

"I'm best in man coverage," James said. "That's probably where I play my best. I really want to work on my zone defense though. I had a big year returning kicks but most coaches are talking to me about playing corner."
James has heard from the likes of NC State, Maryland, Illinois, Notre Dame, Clemson, Boston College, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Georgia and Georgia Tech.
"I've talked to coaches from Clemson, NC State, Carolina, Wake and Notre Dame," he said.
"Right now I'd say the two I like most are Tennessee and Illinois. I had a cousin (Andre James) who played for Tennessee back in 2000. I've liked them since I was growing up. The football tradition is great and fun to be around. I've taken two trips up there and I've liked it a lot.
"Illinois has been in contact with me for a while. They made it to the Rose Bowl even though they didn't do that good."
James recently attended a Junior Day at Wake Forest and he plans on taking a trip to East Carolina soon. Auburn has invited him to attend a scrimmage on March 24, and he also plans on camping at NC State and North Carolina.
