2009 LB lands first offer

Andover (Kan.) Andover Central 2009 inside linebacker Jaydan Bird is a busy man. Not only is he getting busy on the football field with a big effort in the season opener against Circle, he's also busy with schools showing plenty of interest in him.
He's also picked up his first written scholarship offer.

"I already had an oral offer from K-State, but they sent me the offer in writing," Bird, who is 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, said. "I got it officially the day after Sept. 1. It came in the mail. I've been getting a lot of mail, but it's good to already have an offer to consider.
"It's a really good offer, but I'm keeping my options wide open for now."
Bird is scheduled to head down to Oklahoma this weekend for an unofficial visit for the Sooners' game against Miami. He'll then follow that up the weekend after with a visit to Manhattan for K-State's game against Missouri State.
"I'm going to try to go to a lot of games this year," Bird said. "Michigan keeps inviting me to come up for a game, and I was going to go up to the first game. But I thought it was going to be a blowout, so I didn't want to drive that far that."
When it comes to action on the field, Bird helped his team jump out to a 1-0 record with a big win over Circle last Friday night.
"It started out a little slow, but I was doing really well on defense," Bird said.
"I killed the quarterback a few times. I don't even remember how many tackles I had, but I also lit up the running back. This week we've got Winfield, but we're gearing up for the big test against Andale. I'm not nervous for it at all."
