2009 CB adds offers, claims favorite

Signing Day is nearly here and that means the focus for many colleges is turning to next season. Numerous players are already racking up offers and Indian Head (Md.) Lackey cornerback Darrell Givens is no exception.
"I've got offers from Oregon, Boston College, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Virginia, Akron and Tennessee," he said. "I picked up Tennessee and Oregon about two to three weeks ago. They sent my coach at Friendly the papers.

"I also think Miami is creeping up. I've sent them another copy of my tape."
Givens has been busy this month already.
"Earlier this month I made trips to Boston College and Rutgers," he said. "I liked both of them a lot. My recruiting coach at Rutgers is really cool. I got a one-on-one with Coach Schiano and I liked the whole atmosphere, the program is headed up.
"Boston College was kind of the same. I like them a lot. I met with Coach Jags and liked the atmosphere and campus. I'd say of them, Boston College has a slight advantage because Josh Haden committed there and that's big for me. Josh and I are real good friends on and off the field."
Coming up, Givens plans to take more trips to Wake Forest on the 9th and Virginia on the 23rd or 24th.
Is there a favorite for the junior prospect?
"As of right now if I had to pick a favorite it would be Rutgers," he said. "I like the whole staff, they are cool and Schiano is a cool down-to-earth guy."
