2008 Texas LB gets Big 12 offer

There is a top 2008 prospect emerging at Kerrville (Texas) Tivy in outside linebacker Kyle Prater.
Prater, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound junior outside linebacker, has the family tradition of playing college football and he's already following in those footsteps with his first scholarship offer from a Big 12 school.

"Nebraska has offered him already," Tivy coach Mark Smith said. "The rest of the schools have just been sending a ton of mail. It's been schools like Florida State, LSU, and Illinois. There are a bunch of schools sending stuff because I hand him stuff everyday.
"He's been a very good player for us. Kyle has a brother (John Prater) that plays inside linebacker at Wyoming and his father was an offensive lineman at Kansas."
Prater was a two time all-district and all-area selection as a sophomore and junior.
"I think he's definitely an outside linebacker but he can play just about anywhere," Smith said. "He started as a sophomore for us, but he played some as a freshman."
As for what his star player is looking for in a school, Smith says that Prater is willing to check out all of his options.
"He's willing to travel and see what the best fit is," Prater said. "That's what he's looking for more than anything else. He knows that anywhere he goes, he's going to get a good education."
