2008 OT already on radar

It's never too early to look towards the future and Norfolk (Va.) Maury has a good one coming out in the 2008 class in offensive tackle Vincent Painter. The 6-foot-5, 295-pounder is already getting some serious looks from major college powerhouses.
"He's getting regular mail from Virginia Tech, Miami, Virginia, Penn State and a bunch of others," Maury head coach Delton Cotton said of his massive rising junior. "I know he plans to take in a lot of camps this summer to start checking out all these schools."

Besides his massive size, what makes Painter stand out as a player?
"I'd say he'll be one of the top offensive tackles next season," he said. "I was an assistant with Levi Brown and Levi was great. At this point in time this kid may even be further ahead than Brown was. Vincent is really special and a tough, hardnosed player on the field."
Brown is currently at Penn State. Painter can't receive a written offer until Sept. 1 of 2006.
