2008 Arkansas RB starting to get noticed

Fayetteville, Ark. tailback Gionni Harris is likely one of the smallest prospects in the 2008 class. That doesn't mean the 5-foot-6, 132-pounder isn't a talent though as he averaged nearly 7.5 yards per carry as a junior.
"Our team went 9-3, but lost in the semifinals. I finished up the year 53 catches for 901 yards and six touchdowns," he said. "I also had 45 carries for 340 yards and four touchdowns. In the return game, I had 1,716 yards and one for a touchdown.

"I can say I improved a lot since my sophomore year. I wasn't going down as easily, I got stronger and faster. I ended up earning all-conference and all-area honors."
On the recruiting front, lots of schools are interested in the all-purpose back.
"I've been getting letters from all over including Texas Tech, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh, Ole Miss, Kansas State, Auburn, Notre Dame and Colorado," he said. "I'd say my favorites are Texas A&M, Arkansas, Texas, Florida, Colorado and Auburn. I was able to go to the Florida-Arkansas game and both teams stood out to me. They let freshman make an impact and I like that."
With so many schools showing interest, what is Harris looking for out of a college?
"I big thing I want is to be able to make an impact my freshman year," he said. "If I can go in and start to do whatever to help the team I will. I'm going to look at my potential for playing time. I'm originally from Key West, Florida, but I don't care where I play. I can say I don't like the cold, but I'll play in it."
