2007 WR steps up his junior year

Norfolk (Va.) Maury 2007 wide receiver Dyrri McCain has received a handful of interest so far mostly from the Big East and ACC. Who is the 5-foot-11, 160-pounder with 4.4-second speed getting letters from and who does he like?
"I get a lot of letters from Marshall, Boston College, West Virginia, Clemson and North Carolina State," he said. "It's probably not likely, but my favorite college is Florida State and then Miami would be right behind them along with USC. I like that they are all really good teams, but I understand that closer schools are more likely to see me."

Two closer schools McCain is also very intrigued by.
"If I'm not lucky enough to hear from the Florida schools then I'd like to go to somewhere like Clemson or Virginia Tech," he said. "Virginia Tech is pretty good and I've seen their roster and I think I could fit in there. I like Clemson because they are a South Carolina team and my dad grew up down there. Also one of my favorite players is Woody Dantzler because he could do it all and I know Clemson likes to use those multitalented players and that's what I think I am too."
Last summer the receiver prospect took in camps at North Carolina State, Virginia and Penn State.
"I liked that I got to show what I have at North Carolina State, but I enjoyed Penn State the most," he said. "At first going in I wasn't that interested in them, but after seeing their campus and stadium I liked it a lot. I also like the type of players and community that is around there."
This season McCain has performed impressively hauling in 17 receptions for 700 yards and six touchdowns. He has added one interception and a fumble recovery for a touchdown on defense.
"I lead the area in receiving yards and I can say my best attributes on the field are certainly my quickness and ability to catch the ball," he said. "Compared to last year there is no comparison. I was a young player and didn't have a touchdown and only hauled in two interceptions. I didn't take any breaks this summer and instead worked on my routes, mechanics and catching and this year it shows."
