2007 Texas DB waits on offers

DALLAS - It may be a long name, but people are starting to recognize defensive back Chima Nwachukwu.
The 5-foot-10, 192-pounder is starting to get his recruiting kicked off. One step in that direction was his presence at the Rivals.com Junior Day in Dallas this past weekend. Though there were some guys who already claim offers, Nwachukwu is not getting impatient considering how early it is.

"No, there aren't any offers yet," Nwachukwu said. "I have been keeping in touch with a lot of schools though. SMU, Texas Tech, TCU, Indiana, and a lot of others are the ones I can remember right now."
One of those schools is close to home in the North Texas area and has gotten his high interest right off the bat.
"SMU is kind of my favorite," Nwachukwu said. "They're close to me and I've spoken with the recruiting coordinator before. It's just, when one team shows you that much interest, you just start getting to know them better."
His Allen, Texas team went 9-3 overall last year and their young free safety wants to go much farther this year.
"Obviously, we want to win the state championship," Nwachukwu said. "Plus, I want to collect the honors like all-district, all-state, and all of that. I've been starting since my junior year, so I feel better prepared for this year."
"I feel quick to sniff out the ball carrier."
