2007 N.C. running back making noise

It may be early, but the Clinton, N.C., running back Nic Cooper is a junior already making noise after a very stellar sophomore season.
Cooper, a 5-foot-11, 225-pound powerful back, rushed for over 1,000 yards during his sophomore season and is looking to add to that total as a junior. In the last game, Clinton's star running back rushed for over 200 yards on 12 carries. It appears that colleges are starting to take notice early as well.

"Well, North Carolina sent me a packet of stuff already," Cooper said. "There haven't been a ton of other schools yet, but I mean letters have come from some schools I like. Some of the teams I want to hear from are Virginia and Michigan.
The junior running back will certainly have plenty of time to think about which schools he would like to hear from considering his senior year is still a long ways away. However, Cooper says it hasn't stopped him from thinking about recruiting early.
"I've definitely thought about all of that," Cooper said. "You think about which schools you want to visit and who your favorite is. I mean if USC contact me, then that's automatic. I know that schools like Georgia Tech and South Carolina are ones I like as well."
As for his team's start to the season, Clinton has put up a 3-3 record so far. Cooper attributes that to just staying focuses and not losing cool.
"You know, we're a pretty good team but we've just got to keep a level head out there," he said. "We could very well be a 6-0 team. I've been on varsity since I was a sophomore, so I'm gaining experience each year on what I have to do to help the team."
