2-star QB talks FIU commitment

Two-star quarterback Maurice Alexander of Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington committed to Florida International in June because of the Panthers' confidence his abilities despite his 5-foot-10, 154-pound frame.
"I like them because the coaches believe in me," Alexander said. "Most coaches don't really want to take a chance on me because they're saying my height, or that they want to see more of me play. So that's what really made me commit to FIU."

In addition to the coaching staff, Alexander's also a fan of the school itself.
"I like their facilities and it's a top-notch education," he said.
Alexander committed not too long after attending a June camp. It was his fourth visit to FIU and he said he plans to be there again this season for the Panthers game against Louisville, though it won't be an official visit.
Alexander said he'll spend between now and next season working to earn playing time with the Panthers.
"I have a chance to compete and play as a freshman," he said. "I've just got to put on weight and keep working to perfect my craft."
