16 DE Polite eyeing UNC

It's early in the recruiting process for 2016 defensive end Jachai Polite of Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland, but it's not too early for him to have a favorite of the four offers he's already collected. North Carolina is one of the first to notice of the 6-foot-4, 230-pound Polite and he said he's mutually interested in the Tar Heels.
"They put D-ends in the league," Polite said. "Big names, like Julius Peppers . They're good at working with pass rushers."

Polite said North Carolina became interested in the spring after the Tar Heels coaching staff saw his tape.
"They said they were impressed with the film," he said. "They were impressed with my size and wingspan and told me they like big defensive ends."
West Virginia, UCF and USF are the other schools to offer, with Bulls becoming his fourth offer this past weekend after he attending USF camp.
Other than USF - he said the Bulls aren't a team in the mix right now - and UCF, he hasn't had the chance this offseason to visit the schools that have offered. He's hoping to get to North Carolina at some point during the season.
He also visited Florida State camp last week.
"They said to keep working hard and I should get an offer from them," Polite said. "Maybe not this year, but next year if I have a good season."
With his offseason tour schedule complete, he will now shift his focus to producing a solid junior season.
"Our defense is top notch," Polite said of Mainland. "I'm just going to stay humble, work hard and try to be the best I can be."
