16 DB Watts talks favorites

Class of 2016 four-star defensive back Craig Watts of St. Petersburg (Fla.) Gibbs has nearly 20 offers, and to this point seven schools are standing out to him. Though he has no favorite, those in the mix are Ohio State, Florida, Mississippi State, North Carolina, USF, Indiana and Kentucky.
While Watts said no school is standing out at the moment, there are some factors he's looking at when narrowing down a favorite.

"Being close to home is going to be important to me," the 5-foot-10, 173-pound Watts said. "I want my family to come to the games. All the schools that I named are not too far from me, so any school that's further away than that is too far."
Both Indiana and Ohio State are the furthers from home for Watts at 15 hours away.
Here's what Watts had to say about each school:
Ohio State: "I haven't really been talking to the coach lately, but Ohio State has been like a dream school, really, so that would be great if I could go there. I talk to (Buckeyes assistant Stan Drayton)."
Mississippi State: "They're the No. 1 team in the country right now. With them just offering me a couple of weeks ago, that showed me they like how I play and that they believe I can contribute to what they have going on."
Florida: "I like how Florida schemes on defense and I like (Gators assistant D.J. Durkin)."
North Carolina: "I have a good connection with (Tar Heels assistant Gunter Brewer) and we talk every week. He's just a great guy. He said they need help, so I would play. I'd basically start when I get there. I'm probably going there after the season."
USF: "I was there a couple of weeks ago when they played East Carolina. It was my first time there. I thought everything was good. The coaches were cool and they said I could start early. I met Nate Godwin and Marlon Mack. I talk to Marlon on twitter too. They said the coaching staff is great. I like how they play freshman early."
Kentucky: "Their coaches have been telling me if I come there I'll be the biggest recruit in the class. We haven't talked in two weeks, but they're telling me I could go there and do the same stuff I'm doing now. I play safety for my school and we play out of a 4-3."
Indiana: "(Hoosiers assistant Greg Frey) came to my school. I liked him and we hit it off the bat, really. We talked about things other than sports like education and life and things like that. So I like coach Frey a lot."
In addition to his top seven, Florida State is showing interest as well. Though the Seminoles have yet to offer, they did invite him to the Florida game on Nov. 29 and Watts plans on accepting the invitation.
"I'll be going as a recruit," Watts said. "They invited me last week and they're showing interest. They told me to come out to the game. (Seminoles assistant Lawrence Dawsey) came to my school to talk."
Watts has time and doesn't plan on making a decision any time soon.
"I'll probably make my choice when school starts back up," he said. "Right before my senior year. "It's going to come down to what my mom thinks, the school, the program, the scheme and the coaches."
