16 3-star TE Mathis on the rise

Class of 2016 tight end Jacob Mathis of Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep is a prospect who continues to gain attention, now having earned double-digit D-I offers, includingSyracuse, Florida, Ohio State, and Ole Miss.
He plans on visiting each those schools during the season for games. Here's a breakdown of where he wants to go and why:

Louisville at Syracuse, Oct. 4: "Syracuse is one of those schools that have offered both (Berkely Prep teammate and best friend) Bo Peek and myself, so that's somewhere I'll consider. Their facilities are really nice and they have a good coaching staff. Being away from home is not a problem for me and being in such a big city would be cool with so many opportunities."
LSU at Florida, Oct. 11: "(Gators tight ends coach Derek Lewis) and I are pretty tight. We talk every other week or so. We're always in contact and catch up with each other. I just like the way they treat their players - there's definitely a family-type thing going on."
Michigan at Ohio State, Oct. 22: "I talk to (Buckeyes assistant Stan Drayton) and coach Meyer about every week. My head coach (Dominick Ciao) is pretty well acquainted with coach Meyer too, so it was nice being offered and getting to talk to (Meyer) the first time around. It was cool hearing him explaining how he felt about my game. He has a lot of faith in me and is recruiting me pretty hard."
Mathis isn't sure which Ole Miss game he's go to.
"They're one of the first to offer me," he said. "They had faith in me early on and it's just cool having your first offer come from such a prestigious school. (Rebels assistant Chris Kiffin) played for my head coach, Dominick Ciao."
Mathis said he doesn't have a favorite at the moment.
"Everything is wide open and I'm just enjoying the process," he said.
Mathis has two touchdown receptions thus far for 3-0 Berkeley Prep.
