09 NC linebacker knows the game well

Size, speed and strength are undoubtedly important for high school football players hoping to take their game to the collegiate level. That said, being the son of a coach helps some prospects immensely.
Linebacker Cole Gonet is just that. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound prospect from Raleigh (N.C.) Ravenscroft runs the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds.

He lined up at several positions for Ravenscroft this past fall. Defensively he recorded 110 tackles and five sacks. On offense he had more than 800 yards of total offense with seven touchdowns.
"I've been playing both ways at Ravenscroft," Gonet said. "Fullback and linebacker. My biggest strength is probably just knowing the game. My dad is the coach so I'm familiar with the game. I know where I need to be and I have a nose for the ball."
Gonet has received mail from East Carolina Virginia, NC State, Clemson, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt and Louisville.
He said two schools are sticking out.
"Probably Virginia and Wake Forest," he said. "The academics at both places are real nice. They're good, solid programs."
