Thompkins de-commits from FSU

On May 9th, Ronald Thompkins called Jimbo Fisher and committed to the Florida State Seminoles.

After four and a half months, his feelings have changed, and he has decided to back off his pledge.

"I have been thinking hard about this for a while," said Thompkins. "I have been talking to my parents, I have been asking questions to some close to me and I have decided to re-open my recruitment.

"I have de-committed from Florida State."

The 6-foot, 185 pound junior running back out of Loganville (Ga.) Grayson may not be committed to the Garnet and Gold any longer, but he is not crossing Florida State off his list.

"Oh yeah, Florida State is still in there. I am still looking at them and I am still looking at them.

"I just rushed things and I just want to take a look at more schools. Not being committed anymore allows me to do that more. I just feel better about it.

"Florida State is still a school on my list."

Plenty of others are going to challenge the Seminoles. He recently visited Georgia and the Bulldogs have his interest. Many others do too.

"Georgia is one school I am looking at, but I want to look more at Nebraska, Clemson, Florida, Oregon, Penn State and Tennessee too," said Thompkins.

"I am just going to explore the different options. I can be more relaxed about it now because I won't be committed anymore."

Thompkins simply feels he rushed his decision. He just wants to take a step back, re-evaluate everything and make sure he finds the perfect school for him.

"I just need to think on things a little more and make sure of everything before I make my final decision.

"I knew I made the decision too soon. I just need to take more time with it. I will do that now."
