Ohio State has a very impressive recruiting class, especially on the defensive line. The Buckeyes have added to that defensive line haul in the form of Rivals100 prospect Tyler Friday out of Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep.

IN HIS OWN WORDS…

“Coach Johnson just being who he is as one of the better defensive line coaches in the country,” Friday said. “Seeing what he can do for me really pushed me towards Ohio State. I can come in and contribute to their tradition and get me a trophy as well.

“On my visit, I was visualizing myself there when I’m watching film in the film room and seeing how they run things,” he said. “I really like the way Urban Meyer runs things and it’s something that I was really attracted to and something I want to be a part of.”

RIVALS’ REACTION…

Once again, Ohio State coach Larry Johnson proved to be the difference in the recruitment of a major defensive line prospect. The Buckeyes beat hated rival Michigan and reigning National Champions Alabama to land Friday’s commitment. Friday is a strong defensive lineman with a ton of potential. He can play multiple positions on the defensive line and has the speed and strength combination to be effective wherever the coaches put him. Friday has a pretty lean frame will be able to bulk up as needed. If for some reason Friday doesn’t work out as a defensive lineman he could find himself on the other side of the ball. Throughout his high school career, he proved to be a very good interior offensive lineman.
