Four-star Steve Stephens has mind made up

Steve Stephens committed to Oregon in April.

The four-star safety from Fresno (Calif.) Edison has never wavered on his pick, even recently when Willie Taggart left after one season and the Ducks hired assistant Mario Cristobal to be head coach.

Through all that transition, Stephens stayed solid with Oregon and his commitment only solidified even more this past weekend after his official visit to Eugene.

“My Oregon visit was amazing,” Stephens said.

“I love it there. Everything about it the people, the facilities, the academics, everything was great.”

During his return trip to Oregon, the four-star defensive back had more time to speak with Cristobal and where he sees the Ducks’ program going.

The Fresno Edison standout loved the message and he’s not looking at any other programs in his recruitment.

“Coach Cristobal is one heck of a coach and I was so juiced he got the job,” Stephens said. “His message was we are going to keep this movement going.”

It has always been a drama-free recruitment with Stephens and that should continue. The four-star plans to sign during the early period next week and he’s also going to enroll early.
