Four-star QB Tanner McKee back from Stanford

Tanner McKee took an important official visit to Stanford this past weekend and, as expected, the four-star quarterback had an excellent time.

The Corona (Calif.) Centennial standout definitely has the Cardinal high on his list.

“Trip was great,” McKee said.

“I related really well with the other guys on officials. It was super fun. I got to spend a lot of time with the coaches which was great. We also met Condoleezza Rice. That was cool.”

Having the opportunity to meet Rice and other dignitaries at Stanford is one of many reasons the school is so appealing to McKee, who plans to take a two-year Mormon mission after high school.

“She talked about finding what you are passionate about and pursuing dreams,” McKee said. “She shared some stories about her work with Russia and why Stanford is a great place to go to school.”

The only quarterback among the top 18 at the pro-style position that remains uncommitted, McKee is still not in a serious rush to make a decision but there is a time crunch with National Signing Day fast approaching.

The four-star quarterback is at the Polynesian Bowl in Hawaii this week and had Washington coach Chris Petersen for an in-home visit on Sunday night.

At the end of the month, McKee could visit USC but he also admits that he’s getting tired of traveling so much after recently returning from the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
