4-star DB Gentry Bonds excited to see Nebraska

Gentry Bonds (Hayes Fawcett)

The Latest: Class of 2017 four-star defensive back Gentry Bonds named his Top Five schools earlier this month and said he wouldn't be making a final decision until he had a chance to visit each school at least one more time. The only problem for him is that preparations for his senior season have gotten in the way of his planned road trips. With the start of fall camp right around the corner, Bonds said he's hoping to hit the road soon, with Nebraska being one of the programs in his plans. Rivals.com caught up with Bonds to talk Huskers and get an update on his recruitment.

In His Words: "I'm still trying to figure everything else in terms of visits and hopefully I can still get unofficials in so I can make a decision before the start of my season. I'm planning on enrolling early so the sooner I can decide the better. Nebraska is a school I could see myself fitting in well at. Coach Stewart, the defensive backs coach, I really like what he does there and I like what he says about how I can fit into their defense. He told me I can play safety or corner and I feel comfortable doing either one. They are trying to recruit nationally and get a lot of guys from California but they also want to get some guys from the Southeast. They're a program that has been great in the past and I think they can get back there by bringing in good players to go with their good coaching."

Rivals Reaction: High school teams in Tennessee are already having team activities so it's been tough for Bonds to get away and make a trip out of the region. The Huskers are still very interested but will need to get him on campus in order to keep up with some of the options closer to home.
